BiblioBash 2012
Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the AIA Center for Architecture in Center City.
Friends of the Free Library opens the doors of AIA's Center for Architecture for BiblioBash 2012 on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. We hope you will join us for an evening of good food and drinks, live music, and an exciting silent auction in the modern setting of this Center City location.
Join us in celebrating leaders and readers who steward their libraries, and honoring Councilwoman María D. Quiñones-Sánchez for outstanding commitment and service to Free Library communities.
We have two ticket choices this year for attendees.
The first, our gala ticket ($75), includes admission to the gala, open bar, a mouthwatering buffet by DiAntonio's Catering, live entertainment by Justin Gonzalez and his jazz trio, and access to the wide array of unique silent auction items. The silent auction will open at 7:30 p.m. and close at 9 p.m.
Our second option, the VIP ticket ($100), includes gala admission as detailed above and Discovering Hidden Treasures - an exclusive bus tour of Philadelphia's historic architecture with noted Philadelphia architect David S. Traub, AIA (founding member of Save Our Sites, a visionary historic preservationist, and avant-garde designer). The hour-long guided tour will depart from the Center for Architecture at 6 p.m., starting in the Callowhill neighborhood with a view of the viaduct and a stop at the not-to-be-believed Asian Antique Gallery inside an iconic historic building; traveling across Spring Garden Street's river-to-river grand avenue with its amazing historic buildings, through Northern Liberties' old-world streetscapes and homes. The tour finale is the Piazza at Schmidts, where we will pause to admire its new take on an old-world theme before returning to AIA to kick off the gala. PLEASE NOTE: Reservations are required and the tour is limited to 40 attendees - first come, first served - so purchase your tickets early to reserve your spot!
Through tireless efforts our library stewards – your neighbors – have preserved the city’s 54-branch library system. We look forward to celebrating a year of remarkable achievements (and a special video screening) with you at BiblioBash 2012!
